NEW Cataract Referral Procedure for Norfolk & Waveney

10 September 2024

From 14 Septemeber 2024 all cataract referrlals are to be directed through the  Health West Norfolk (HWN) hub using secure email to the HWN team on: nwicb.cataract@nhs.net

Details of New Cataract Triage Service:

The cataract triage service run by the South Norfolk Referral Management Service (RMS) will end on 30/9/2024.

In order to ensure that the remaining cataract referrals are processed before the contract end date, the RMS will no longer accept referrals from c.o.p 13/9/2024.  All email requests after that date will be returned to the optometrists.

The ICB has commissioned Health West Norfolk (HWN) to cover the service from the 14/9/2024.   Cataract referrals can be emailed using secure email to the HWN team using nwicb.cataract@nhs.net

The HWN team has produced a cataract referral form and a patient guide explaining how the HWN team will process the referral and ensure that choice is offered to all patients.   The referral form is available in Word format or in PDF fillable format.  Please do not refer directly to the providers.

Thank you for your patience during this time of transition to the new service provider.
